Album Notes
This whole EP has been a love-fest and more fun than I ever imagined. I've been a songwriter since I was eleven, and a published one at 19. I've been signed to major labels, done tons of TV ( when it was a big deal to be on TV) and was signed by famous producers as a songwriter more than once. I was ver-r-r-y close to a hit record three times. Once we already had the European tour planned. I had one disappointment too many when I decided I didn't want to write songs anymore. I was burned out.

The truth was I just quit.

Until I met Bill Suarez. Bill had a phenomenal voice and an incredible backstory. He was dropped on his head from a two- story building when he was a baby. As a result, he never grew past 4'10. But his voice was one in a million.
I told him he had to record an album. We went into the studio, I produced the album and magic happened. It was his dream come true, and he kept saying it was the best experience of his life. He also said, "Jill, I want you to record some songs. I want you to start writing again." I promised him I would. Shortly after that, Bill died of heart failure. He left me some money to record. I had to honor my promise to him, so I started writing again. I miss Bill a lot--he always felt like a family member to me. But I'll always be grateful to him for getting me back on the path to my true love and thrill---songwriting.

"With Me" was written with Dan Krier, an excellent guitarist / singer / songwriter friend of mine. I love the guitars, by the iconic Todd Robinson, on this song. When I sing it, I feel like I'm in the movie we imagined when Dan and I wrote it!

"Teddy Boy" spontaneously was created when I started singing to my moody, emotional Siamese Rescue, Tutty Boy (actual name, King Tut) The song got darker and much more meaningful as my excellent writer/filmmaker/husband, Frederick Friedel rewrote and polished the lyrics with me. I finally noticed that my "hot/cold" relationship thing with King Tut is highly similar to some old relationships of mine...hmmmmm. 'nuf said.

"Necessary Harry" just flowed out as I anticipated a songwriting date with my musician friend, Charlie LaMont. I wanted a song that aimed for the cleverness and wit of Dorothy Fields or Cole Porter. Charlie and I had a great time finishing the song together, and then the guys in the studio (Gary Ferguson, famed drummer (Cher, Eddie Money, Larry Carlton, The New Radicals, Charlie Sexton), and my producer; the incredible Todd Robinson (Luis Miguel) on guitars, the wonderful Bobby Tsakamoto on bass, Mark McMillen (Bobby Caldwell), acclaimed keyboard player and composer, and Kevin Richardson, trumpet player for Brian Setzer) really brought their greatness to it!

"Easy For You" was first written years ago as a pop-rock song, and it got a re-vamp by Dan Krier and I when we worked together. I kept feeling so much love when we listened to the basic tracks in the studio, so I created a video that showcases the pure love that animals express. The song draws you in with it's infectious hooks and sing-along chorus--try to only listen once!

Thanks for giving my music a listen, and I hope you're taken someplace unexpected when you do---and you end up With Me.
