ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is Jim Ballard's first album. Released to very positive response from fans and reviews in late 1976, he was one of a cadre of folk/roots influenced songwriters and performers based out of the Northeast Ohio area that included Alex Bevan, John Bassette and Charlie Wiener. The album was produced by Ballard and John Bassette on the latter's then TinkerToo records. The album runs the gamut from singer songwriter styles such as Leavin' It All Behind Me, in the vein of James Taylor, to socially conscious tunes such as Craig Allen, about miners in Pennsylvania, Unexpected Company, about war and occupying armies.. Georgianna and Wexford lane, both acoustic guitar pieces and, of course, Southside Days, just a walk through Ballard's childhood neighborhood on the south side of Akron, Ohio. Ballard continued recording and does so to this day, also producing many other artists of all stripes. He also has made a name for himself scoring for independent films.
