Album Notes
My first solo CD.

My name is James Rohlehr, a name that not many people can spell or pronounce, so for this project
I created a name that fits me, Jimbo a name that my cousin/auntie, Clave Rohlehr, used to call me, and
Ro, my high school nickname. ‘Jimbo Ro’

After years of producing music for my wife, Andrea Rohlehr and I, (aj, andjam), also the songwriters guild, and others, I decided to make a CD for Me. This CD is a mishmash collection of songs from my life and spirit. I have been a musician/composer for over 30 years, and I have many friends who have helped me make music. At the front of this group of friends is Muzz Skillings, Tony Lewis, Ron Monroe, Reg Washington, Sly Scott, Clyde Bullard, John Colby, Rob Gill, Ricardo Greenaway, Ron Thompson, Clyde Bullard, Wayne Cobham, Clyde Williams, Giuseppe Rappa. Thank you to all ☺.

The influence of music has been around me all my life. Jazz was around me when I was very young. My uncle Arthur Hatchett played jazz piano and sang in the house where I grew up, while baby-sitting me. My sister, Beverly Rohlehr, a soulful singer and guitar player has also been a big influence. Also growing up in a West Indian family calypso was often in the air. Then there were my teachers, John Lewis(MJQ), Jack Wilkins, Jorge Morell, Ted Dunbar, John Corigliano, CCNY music department, Jazzmobile, Ann Ruckert. There are so many more friends that I have worked with that have helped me along the way. I want to give a special thanks to John Colby, Gary Lovett, L Siuzi Henry, and Sheila Baptista-Lewis and Kirk Music.

I invite you to listen and enjoy this CD.
Each song has a special meaning in my life:

MUSIC IS MY SOUL – and yes it is. With good friend John Colby on accordion. Thank you Morris Landy for the opportunity.

CATCH THE MOMENT – Clyde Bullard the magical Angel, on acoustic bass.

THUNDER BOY- A song for my son

FELICITATIONS – A derivative of one of the first pieces that I ever wrote and arranged for studio orchestra, and my son is playing melodica on this.

THE WEST INDIAN RESTAURANT- Andrea Rohlehr and I used to play at a West Indian restaurant every Sunday called Maroons in NYC. I wrote a song about it.

CARIBBEAN MYSTERY – recorded back in 2003 in the basement of where I grew up.

PLANTAIN ROCK- a fun musical piece with a West Indian flavor.

LOVE YOU, SEE YOU, BYE BYE – My amazing daughter.

CALL MY GIRLFRIEND - A true story about my trip to Guyana, Back in the days before cell phones.
