Album Notes
From the liner notes:

When I recorded Songs My Daughter Knows in New Orleans in the spring of 2013, I’d only intended to burn copies as a gift for guests at Lenny’s third birthday party. It was my wife Tracey (we were married in NOLA a week after the recording) who insisted I look into an American release. A few months later, the album cracked the Top 30 on US jazz radio, and landed a great review in Downbeat Magazine. I’m glad I listened to her advice!

That album included songs that Lenny encountered during her first year, and one original. This one includes three favourite cover tunes that connect directly to Lenny and me, but the majority are my own songs, inspired by the people and places Lenny knows and loves. They’re instrumental, so I’ve included the stories behind the songs.

Recording at home in Toronto meant I could involve musician friends who know Lenny, and who’ve heard my stories about the songs (many times!). Their affection for her means a lot to me, and I think it shows in their performances. I had a great time making this record, and I hope you enjoy the music.
