Album Notes
I'm really excited about this, my seventh recording project, "Walls And Doors." It is my most musically confessional effort yet.
While this new batch of songs remains true to my acoustic roots, It was my goal to cover a fairly wide range of musical
genres in this latest outing. This includes some late sixties, early seventies soul, some bluegrass, some folk-pop as well as
some folk and roll.

It is a curious thing for me to still be making a living doing something I picked for myself when I was fourteen. Still, in a greater
sense, I feel as if it picked me. I must admit however, that while I have been intrigued by, and drawn to music my whole life, what
I do musically didn't really come into sharp focus until my conversion to Christ.

For this new record, I worked with Nashville producer Stephen Gause. Stephen has great musical sensibilities and he made
making music fun again. With the exception of the piano player, Ben Shive, The players on "Walls And Doors" were all new to me.
And it was their creative energy that pushed this record beyond what I could have hoped for. It was truly a delight working with
them all.

James Gregory is on bass, Andrew Osenga plays electric guitars, Paul Eckberg plays drums and percussion, Gabe Scott
added dobro, mandolin, accordion, banjo and lap steel and Paul Nelson plays cello. The background vocalists include
Stephen Gause and myself, Marshall Ruffin and Sandra McCracken.

The subject matter around these new songs address issues of faith, undefined longing, mercy and grace in a graceless age,
social responsibility and a reorientation toward Christ, among other topics. I am pleased by the response to "Walls And Doors."
Thanks to all of you who have supported my musical endeavors over the years and enjoy the music!

Grace and peace,

Jim Cole
