Album Notes
When I try to add up how many "Silly Dance Contests" have been held in the twenty years since I first released this recording--on LP record--I come up with an astounding number. Hundreds and hundreds of thousands.

The number becomes OVERWHELMING when I think of how many children the song has reached. Millions...literally.

I've featured the song in each of my live concerts in those twenty years. That's a lot of silly dancing. But the majority of "Silly Dance Contests" have been held around record players and CD players all across the county in early childhood classrooms. at library story times, and in family rooms. I've even been told that some DJs play the song to liven up wedding receptions!

With the release of this recording twenty years ago I began calling my songs "music play" because I recognized that I was interested in more than just performing songs for children. My studies in child development led me to an approach in which music would be an invitation for children and the adults that care for them to actively play together.

The 15 songs that I originally recorded are musical games filled with opportunities to jump, dance, sneeze, shake, scratch and, of course, rhyme and sing along with.

In honor of the 20th Anniversary of the release of this recording I decided to record two more games. "Teapot Variations" is a piece that I occasionally get to perform with symphony orchestras. "Silly When You Stop" is, honestly, an even sillier dance contest.

I'm honored that so many children and those who care for them have accepted my invitation to play and return to this recording time after time!

Fun and funny songs to entertain!
My 3 year old daughter heard this CD during story time at the library and she loved it. After checking it out and renewing it, I decided to just buy it. My 1 year old also loves it. There are interactive songs and dances for the kids. It helps them use their energy in productive ways rather than being destructive, rowdy, or teasing each other. They laugh and sing together while dancing along. What a great way for siblings to bond! We love it!

Jim Gill The Sneezing Song and Other Contagious Tunes
This is a wonderfully silly, rhythmic collection of songs that my first graders can sing to, dance to and learn from. I love that some of the songs even promote the students to add their own lyrics to the song! The Banana Song however, is everyone\'s favorite. We just can\'t help moving to the contagious beat.

Absolutely fantastic -- Jim Gill is by far the best artist in children's music m
This is a great CD for introducing kids of all ages (1-6) to interactive music and the clever lyrics will keep moms, dads and teachers/caretakers from losing their minds. We've sent this particular Jim Gill CD to many friends and family members as gifts for their kids -- share the secret -- Jim Gill rocks!

Great for my A.P.E. students!!
This CD is great for my A.P.E. students. It is slow enough for them to follow. My fellow Adapted Physical Edcation teachers and myself would love for you to make other movement CD's with the words to follow the movements i.e. Silly Dance Contest, Hands Are Made For Clapping and The Spaghetti Legs Song.
