ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
New Hampshire's native son, Jim Makris has been in and around the New England folk world since the '60's and it shows. He has learned the folk performance lessons. There is a polish and smoothness in his playing and singing that shows experience, but it does nothing to cover the honest and personal side of his performance.

Jim Makris' album "LIBERTY" is in the classic style of the folk singer/ songwriter. Pensive and introspective songs of loves lost and found and lost again. There are some powerful songs and some pretty and gentle ones. One of the most moving is "Time and Time Again", a lament about a lost love turned bad; good for a while the young man is energized by the experience until things go sour. The lover turns out to be a user and manipulator, and in a twist it is realized the demon lover is alcohol. The title track "Liberty" is a moving story about the murderous attack of an unarmed Navy ship the USS Liberty in June of 1967. The ballad is heralded by historians and music lovers alike.
The record boasts some fine acoustic guitar playing. Overall, this a very consistent and interesting album; a 'must have' for any folk music lovers collection.

Laid-back, quiet, introspective -- excellent listening
This cd is excellent listening on a mellow afternoon -- a tale of life's journeys, good & bad -- what makes a person who he is today. Very enjoyable.
