Kansas Songwriter

by Jim McCarter

Close your eyes and imagine yourself, sitting at a table at the Bluebird Cafe listening to music. Your drink tastes like a flat Pepsi, chips and salsa are salty and bland, but you love the stories and tunes of the Kansas Songwriter.

Album Notes
Kansas Songwriter is the second album from Jim McCarter. All of the songs on this album were written by Jim. His nickname is the Kansas Songwriter. Jim wanted to create an album that folks could listen to repeatedly. Jim was able to find a producer, guitarists, and lead singer to help bring his songs to life. The music is tasteful and acoustic to enhance the listening experience. He wants the listener to be able to hear, understand, and relate to the lyrics that he has written.
Jim is a member of Nashville Songwriters Association International and a member of Global Songwriter Connection. Jim has been recognized by NSAI as a songwriter to watch. He has been a multiple winner in the Walnut Valley Bluegrass New song competition in Winfield, Kansas. In June of 2015 he was selected to perform at the Country Stampede in Manhattan, KS. Jim writes a blog called Kansas Songwriter.
The first song on the album is Best Friend. It is a song that Jim wrote about his Mom. He told me that every songwriter should write a song that honors and pays respect to our mothers. The next song is called I'll Pray for You. Do you ever feel like you are always asking God for something for yourself? This song is about selfish praying. Shelter in the Storm is a story about a man and a wife and how they react differently to a difficult time in their life. We're Missing Him is about a child moving away from home and how that is part of the growing up process. Point A to Point B is song about where we are in life and where we are going. Ticket to Paradise is a question, If you could go to heaven today, would you go? Red Oklahoma Clay is about love or lost love. Big Hit is a song about how songwriter's feel about the songs that they write. Pair of Dice (Paradise) is about the thief on the cross. The last song on the album is Little things. We all like to dream about the big things we are going to do or have done in our lives. Life is really about the little things. Little things that God has blessed me with. Thanks for listening to the songs on this album.
