Album Notes
An intimate tribute in which Cobb celebrates those that have impacted his musical journey, particularly those that are no longer with us.

At age 90, the sole surviving member of the group that produced Miles Davis’ landmark 1959 album, Kind of Blue, shows that he is still very much on top of his game. An irrepressibly swinging force of nature, Jimmy’s Cobb’s inimitable ride cymbal pulse, unerring time feel, melodic soloing instincts and sublime touch with brushes have fueled countless sessions over seven decades.

Accompanied by his working trio of pianist Tadataka Unno and bassist Paolo Benedettini, and with special guest appearances from tenor saxophonist Javon Jackson and the late trumpeter Roy Hargrove, this recording also marks the final session of legendary engineer Rudy Van Gelder, who presided over classic sessions for the Blue Note, Prestige and Impulse! labels.

Cobb acquits himself with vitality and grace on Remembering U, his 12th album as a leader and first for his own Jimmy Cobb World label.
