Album Notes
Following up Jimmy Rae's well received solo album 'Deliverance' (Matchbox Recordings, 2009), 'One Day' is the debut album release from his new Americana trio, Jimmy Rae & the Moonshine Girls.

Recorded completely live in one single session on 1 October 2016, the album comprises 11 new original songs (plus bonus hidden track) from an artist described by Liverpool pop historian Spencer Leigh as ‘one of Merseyside's finest singer songwriters’.

Jimmy's warm, world-weary voice is perfectly complemented by the vocal harmonies of Sarah-Lou Fletcher on this collection of songs, that range from the infectiously upbeat 'Four in the Morning' and 'Nashville Here I Come' to the heartfelt and touching 'When We're Old' and the darkly bleak 'Nothing Left'.

The simple but effective musical arrangements reflect the trio's live sound, with the accomplished keyboard skills of Izzy Ryder complemented by Jimmy's acoustic guitar and percussion from Sarah-Lou. Guest harmonica players Frank Dennis and Jim Fleming add a splash of additional colour to 'Serious Fun' and 'Three Magic Wishes' respectively.

The album's closer, 'Under the Mersey Moon' is a beautiful and poignant love song to the enduring spirit of Liverpool, whilst the bonus hidden track 'The Devil in His Hands' tells a darkly compelling true story with a sinister twist in the tale.

The challenge of recording a whole album in one single day is not one that many bands would take on, let alone one that has been performing together for only a year. However in a world where the quest for technical perfection all too often stifles the simple joy of making music, this is an album for anyone who appreciates timeless, well crafted songs, delivered with spontaneous energy and passion.
