Album Notes
"The forests of the Northwest resonate with the music of Jim Page. His ability to wholistically understand and passionately sing and play about the issues facing our forests and our world is compelling and inspirational. Listening to his music I find myself crying one minute and laughing the next. Jim Page's music takes you on a journey of self-discovery." -JULIA BUTTERFLY

Gettin' Squeezed takes you on tour with Jim Page at his best. This righteous and very alive CD is a crazy quilt of concert performances at Seattle's Northwest Folklife Festival, Kuumbwa in Santa Cruz, KPIG radio in Humboldt, and more. The feel is immediate and up close. Other players include Grant Dermody on harmonica, Artis the Spoonman on you know what, and Orville Johnson on dobro.

The songs go from the concrete immediacy of the title cut, to the lyric mistiness of Butterfly Wings, with Julia hangin way there up in that tree. The ridiculous but necessary Big Bill and Little Willie tells of ol' Sexophone Bill Clinton and his intern, and the ballad Gypsy tells the story of David Chain, killed by a logger in the activist forests of Northern California. It's Not Supposed To Happen But It Did, is the memorial for Columbine with Bill Clinton, Colin Powell, Amy Grant, and a squadron of fighter planes all swooning for non-violence in the name of the dead. And This Land, yep, (this land don't belong to you or me but someday it will if we do it right)honors Woody and takes a new turn in keeping with these crazy times.

"Jim Page's songs get right to the point. He looks at the world clearly and reports what he sees with compassion, humor and a biting sense of irony. And boy! can he sing and play. If you're ever going to get the message, this is the messenger to get it from."
