ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"These compositions, like Door in a Field v. 1, are autobiographical tone poems about growing up on a farm and ranch in western North Dakota. The land and people remain a source of strength and inspiration for me, even though I have thrived in cities for many years. My ancestry is Czech on my father's side and Norwegian on my mother's. My roots are in agriculture and my tree became music."

Joining Jim in the studio are Jazz greats Steve Wilson, Zach Brock, Darryl Hall, Mark Walker, Joe Locke, Wayne Krantz, Scott Anderson, JD Walter, Paul Jost, Gabriela Anders, Gina Roche, and the Kemp Family Singers.

My compadres infused virtuosity and simplicity into each song. They went deep and produced beautiful performances. I am forever grateful to them for giving so much and making my vision complete.

Enjoy the beautiful photography and design by artist Kathy Ridl. The sound and the visual are intertwined.
