Album Notes
"Children at Play" is a straight ahead jazz recording made in 1983 featuring Jim Self on Tuba and Ron Kalina on Harmonica. Other musicians are Jon Kurnick, Guitar, Ernie McDaniel, Bass, harold Mason, Drums and Steve Forman, Latin Percussion.

Jim Self is a long time Los Angeles studio musician with over 1400 movies to his credit. His tuba was the "Voice of the Mothership" in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind. "Children at Play" was his first album and the first jazz record to feature tuba and harmonica. In 1983 it was chosen as one of the top ten jazz albums of the year by High Fidelity Magazine. It is being re-issued for digital sales to accompany his latest CD, "The Odd Couple" which also features harmonica virtuoso Ron Kalina.
