Album Notes

More or less, the original liner notes:
Written and recorded June 16-August 13, 1989, except 'The Night John Lennon Died' which was written January 1986 and recorded July 1988. Recorded and mastered at the Fabulous Attic Studios in Dayton, Virginia. Recorded on a Tascam 244 Portastudio. Mastered August 13 and 25, 1989. All songs written and performed by James Shelley. In fact, all everything by James Shelley, except for the lyrics I stole. Instruments: Mexican Fender Telecaster, Ovation bass, Tama Drums, Yamaha RX-17 drum machine, and a lot of cheapo effects pedals. Thanks go to Nancy Stewart, Gary Bugg, Jim Lantz, Michael Johnson, George Nipe, Margo Figgins, and my mother and father. If you would like to trade albums, correspond, bitch, vent, or whatever, WRITE to me at Jim Shelley, 206 High Street, Bridgewater, VA 22812.

Additional notes for the compact disc re-release:
This isn't technically the first 'album' I ever released, but for all intents and purposes, it is. If I remember correctly, I decided to write and record these songs after reading one of Jim Santo's early DemoRandom columns in ALTERNATIVE PRESS. I later sent this tape to him and he featured it, along with excerpts from a letter I wrote him, in a 1989 column. His kind words were just about the only thing that gave me the courage to keep on writing and recording for years to come...Thanks Jim!

Dedicated to Christian.

Notes for the 2016 digital release:
I learned how to write songs, play guitar and sing while making this album. When I was done making it, I mailed it off to ALTERNATIVE PRESS. They gave it a positive review and changed my life in many wonderful ways forever. So, to AP and the hundreds of folks around the world who subsequently ordered the cassette...thanks. That's all. Thanks.
