ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The husband and wife team of Susan Madley and Jesse Philips (“Jive Mountain”) has been crafting unique arrangements of traditional and contemporary music since they met as hippie students in Berkeley in 1967. Their repertoire spans the history of “American Roots Music” from old-time country and cowboy, through honky tonk and swing, to more current singer-songwriter fare.
“Susan’s powerful and emotionally evocative voice and stand-up bass combine with Jesse’s rich guitar arrangements and vocal harmonies to serve up a varied and satisfying musical meal.”
They have spent the last several years in their off-the-grid log cabin in the forest of Northern California working up these tunes which form the backbone of the shows they have been doing throughout the Northwest this past year.
