Album Notes
The deed is done simple. You write it on the couch, corner of your bed, on the deck, driving to work, during a class, at a bar, on a napkin, in a notebook. After a fight, after love, after a long night, after an early morning, after a drink, after inspiration, afternoon. You play it to yourself, to your girl, to your boys, to your friends, to the band, to an empty room, to a crowd, to the people. You bust your ass, you sweat it out, you cut your teeth, you get the nerve, you carry on, you move forward, you play your heart out. Simple right? Play it because you have to. Because every note and every lyric is a combination of vindication and redemption. Remember when songs meant something? Yeah, it's like that.

I'm becoming obsessed with this album. J Kelley has an extremely unique and magnetic sound. Every song is singable and catchy. I haven't come across an album or an artist like this in way too long. Definitely give it a listen. WELL worth it!

Untied Review
I got this CD from a friend who saw J Kelly live. It was awesome. Really upbeat music with great vocals and powerful guitar. I personally liked #11 and #8. I will be recommending this to my friends and am looking forward to seeing him live in Boston soon.

very cool
great songs, i would def. buy it again!

Having seen J. Kelley perform live at several different venues, I was pleased to hear of the LP release of Untied. This is truly a very well-written album ... it combines passionate vocals with many catchy, hook-heavy guitar-based rock numbers. The track "Let's Get Loose" might as well open the fridge and grab a beer for you.

"Untied" Untied my Soul
I'm pretty picky about my music. I don't really like to try many new artists. I stick to the classics that everyone knows like Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen. But I was bored and decided to try this guy out and it surprised me like no other! J. Kelley has an classic feel with a modern edge that really hits deep. Each song holds its own story so it's really worth listening to the lyrics. I highly recommend J. Kelley for anyone interested in some really classic music. Plus the first song has an electric organ in it. Awesome, right??

Music With Meaning
Few artists today produce albums for anything other than entertainment. Not so with J. Kelley. He's one of those scarce musicians who gets inside your heart and soul. There's a fire in his voice that cannot be ignored. His passion comes through your speakers or headphones with every note, every word, but most importantly, without apology. In an age when the singer/songwriter is all but forgotten, J. Kelley and Untied boldly announces his arrival on the scene, and his talent will prevent him from leaving it anytime soon. "Remember when songs meant something" is a question asked in the artist's notes. Untied takes you there.
