Album Notes
Junko Koike (piano)

She has made art of her life by travel, study and experience.
She begin by moving into a deserted house in the mountain in Shinshu, Japan. She would practice her music while listening to the sound of nature, From there, she traveled and lived in India. Hearing again the songs of birds and the sounds of the wind, she also listened to the prayer-songs of various faiths and the planting-songs of different regions. After a chance meeting with Barry Harris in Tokyo, she was joined his workshop in NYC. She found in his music the silence that she felt in nature. Thomas J. Haslam
