Album Notes
I have put together a fun collection of jazz charts, influenced by the musicians who play them, with wit, sentimentality, and surprise. I have three different piano players, (Hans Brehmer, Darin Clendenin, and John Sanders) with different styles, who played a large part influencing and collaborating with me on the arrangements. The band added their expertise to every chart and had a great time doing back-up vocals as well.
Some special notes about the band: Dave Keim on trombone plays with the Basie Band. He used a horn mute that was passed down through many of the great players with the band. Jeff Busch on percussion and drums brought his expertise in Latin music and used a variety of mixed instruments to get some great sounds. Carey Black on upright bass jumped in with his style and complemented what each player brought to the tunes. Carey once played with Ethel Ennis, whose song I've Got That Feeling, is the chart the album is named after. Ron Peters is about as romantic a guitar player as you can find and his sense of line and rhythm are integral driver of the character of many of the charts. John Anderson on sax has the phrasing of Getz and the style of Parker.
All together, this band loves to play with each other and you can hear it at every corner of the album. Enjoy!
