Jodie-Joy was born and educated in Sydney Australia were she studied music and dance and trained vocally to sing both popular and classical music. This captivating performer has eleven years of extensive dance training from jazz to ballet, which underpins Jodie’s rhythm, style and presence on stage and on camera. As a third generation professional singer, with her father Robin Donald Smith (former principle tenor Australian Opera) and her grandfather Donald Smith OBE being internationally acclaimed operatic tenors; Jodie has been surrounded by music her whole life, which she has used as a springboard to develop her natural gifts and fulfil her passion.

Throughout her career, as well as developing her artistic talents vocally and as a performer, Jodie has continued to expand her talents as a songwriter. She has created expressive and powerful music, working with some of Australia’s most popular and notable artists and songwriters including Daniel Jones and Hayden Bell (Savage Garden), Thomas Who (Shannon Noll), Audius (Delta Goodrem), Dead Mono (Ronan Keating).

First bursting onto Australian television with her role in the first Australian ‘Popstars’ series, Jodie achieved recognition as one of the ten finalists and was voted to be the most popular by the Australian public. Well known for her regular television appearances on Channel 10 Good News week with the all girl group ‘Poptarts’, with whom she appeared as the opening act at the Australian Logie Awards. During this time she collaborated with Paul McDermott (Good News week host), Paul Mac (Eleven/Emi) and Phil Burton of Human Nature (Sony).

A devoted spirit and obvious vocal quality has enabled her to support many high profile acts as lead vocalist in corporate & original bands, she has toured internationally and throughout Australia as singer, dancer and also stars in her own choreographed stylised productions, which toured through Australia and South East Asia.

Her large performing and musical repertoire embraces pop , jazz, rock, music theatre and classical music. Jodie performs regularly at corporate events as a solo artist, with her jazz trio or within her own lavish shows, complete with stylised choreography and stunning costumes.

Jodie is causing quite a stir and could well make her mark as a major contender comparable with some of the best recording vocalists in the world. As a testament to her talents, her debut album “I Still Believe”, (was released through Columbia Records), has had some airplay in Australia. Now completely independent, Jodie's success overseas will soon secure international recognition in her new home town Brisbane, Australia as a adult contemporary and classical crossover artist.

She is noted as a modern beauty, with the perfect blend of sexy, sweet and playful demur that radiates her personal strength, vitality and gives her a presence like no other both live, recorded and on camera. A provocative mix of sensuality, a unique sound and with a wealth of experience behind her, Jodie is capturing hearts with her truly international voice.
