Album Notes
Jody Schneider doesn’t expect a record deal. The world of the over-produced divas and manufactured pop idols may still be the way to make millions, but she isn’t concerned. Thanks to the epidemic evolution of digital downloads and internet marketing, fans are once embracing the many talented singer/songwriters who, not so long ago, were relegated to tiny coffee houses and smoky bars, virtually unseen and unheard.
Coming from the small town of Boyle in Northern Alberta, Schneider’s music is heavily influenced by Canada’s rich musical traditions. Her compatriots may recognize hints of Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Jann Arden and Alanis Morisette, while those from Schneider’s current home, America, may be more apt to identify traces of Tori Amos, Regina Spektor, and Ingrid Michaelson. Fans in both countries, however, agree that Jody Schneider’s music speaks to them on a level that the Top 40 has long forgotten.
Her September 2008 EP ‘(Un)drastic’ is a collection of five heartfelt melodies that showcase Schneider’s unusual voice and the gracefulness of her piano, but that also take advantage of the strength lent by a full band. Schneider’s penchant for collaboration with musicians from different genres and diverse backgrounds makes this album fresh and accessible to a wide audience, and her emotional, honest lyrics evoke a ‘me-too’ response from audiences across North America and beyond.
‘(Un)drastic’ is currently available from iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Digstation, CDBaby, and many other digital retailers. Jody Schneider currently plays shows in the Boise, Idaho area, with future plans of short tours in the Northwest. You can learn more at or
