ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
About José:

I have known Joe for twenty years as both a jazz flutist and as a flutist with The Phoenix Symphony. He does not straddle the two disciplines but plants his beautiful talent firmly in whichever he is doing at a given moment. The moment here is jazz at its best. This album relies on different settings for Joe to showcase his prodigious fluting—each very special. I'll bet you can't listen to just one cut—you will want all of it!
-Doc Severinsen

Joe Corral is one of the very few great classical flute players who seamlessly jump into the jazz world. This CD screams with great improvisations. If you like jazz flute, this is a “Must Have CD”. This guy can REALLY play!!
-Jim Walker, flutist, leader of Free Flight

The opportunity to arrange some of the music for this album was a great privilege for me. Joe made his intentions clear from the onset, yet he generously allowed for creativity in the charts. He is one of the all-too-rare musicians who can function expertly in the universes of both jazz and classical music.
-Bob Freedman, arranger

In this album you will not only hear great jazz but also hear the real and gorgeous sound of flute played by a seasoned orchestral musician. Joe Corral plays all four of the major flute types: piccolo, C-flute, alto flute and bass flute.

Groovin' Higher

The total Musician
Everything Joe Corral touches with his music turns to pure gold, or platinum. From Jazz to classical , Latin to mariachi the unquestioned technical excellence of his music is unparalleled by his superb musicianship. Joe feels each and every muscial phrase he utters. Music goes far beyond a series of notes to an expression of his soul. I not only count him as a friend but as the teacher who single-handedly pointed me in the direction of achieving my own dreams as a musician and taught me the language of love in music.
