Album Notes
Bassist, songwriter, producer Joe Sumrells second release with his band of "good-fit chemistry majors DAY SEVEN.
You the listener are always guaranteed a unique and authentic listening journey when it comes from these groove masters.
"Our goal is to create music that moves from one end of the groove spectrum to another and back again", says Sumrell.
The idea of this approach is neither old or new skool. Just skool. The school of life wrapped up in melody, harmony and rhythm.
The project title, "It Is What It Aint" is a spin off of the cliche "it is what it is" which is usually stated when we feel we have to settle for the norm. "It Is What It Aint" says no we dont. The collection of arrangements on this recording are more in line with a peaceful storm. Definately not the norm. So.... to all the groove masters, funk junkies and smooth operators out there.... this one is for you!
