ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I started playing guitar when I was 10 1/2 years old while living in southern California USA near Los Angeles. I remember first performing in front of my elementary school class.

I played lead guitar in southern California bands all through junior high school (now known as "middle school") and high school.

When I entered college as an undergrad, I played little but listened to a lot of music, especially jazz and classical music. I further expanded my musical horizons by taking a music appreciation class or two and learning about the great classical composers such as Brahms, Mahler, and Beethoven.

After college, I began focusing on songwriting. During this time, most of my compositions were written on guitar. Since that time, I have played and performed music (guitar and piano/keyboards), written songs and original music compositions, and worked in the recording studio.

This particular collection of blues and blues/jazz lead guitar tunes represents some of my finest work. I have been described as a "retro" lead guitar player, which I take very much as a compliment. I used Gibson and Fender guitars exclusively while recording this album (the only two brands I have ever used). What is my philosophy of music? Play it as you feel it or don't play it at all. That simple.

I hope you enjoy this special collection of my blues and blues/jazz lead guitar tracks. I thank you in advance for listening and for purchasing my original lead guitar works. Much appreciated. Thank you! Respect, Joel R. Cooper
