ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Joey O – Wish Upon A Starr

Joey O – Wish Upon A Starr, is a solo album in the truest sense. All instruments: Guitar, Bass, Drums, Ukulele & Mandolin were played by Joey O. All songs were written & arranged by Joey O. The album was Produced, Engineered & Mixed by Joey O. And the album was recorded & mixed, at Joey O's studio, Electric Joeyland.
Once the songs were written & basic tracks were recorded live to tape (8 Track), Joey O then improvised all Guitar solo's live to tape, reacting in the most spontanious way, to the rhythm tracks, with no preconceived ideas of what to play.
After the devastating loss of Start Me Up's beloved singer & brother, Scott Starr (who passed away on Nov 2, 2014), Joey poured all of his emotion into writing & recording “Wish Upon A Starr”. Joey said, “My little brother Scott, was in my every thought, when I wrote & recorded these songs. Also, when I was growing up, there were these great bands that could take you on a musical journey with their amazing 2 ½ minute songs, & their albums would take you on a journey too. Every song would compliment the next song & be totally different from the next song. So, my goal was to write songs like that & record an album like that, except for one major difference, this would be a guitar instrumental album, for my little brother Scott Starr.”
