Album Notes
John Bergstrom writes about the West. His songs are stories about the adventures, traditions, heroes and badmen that make the Old West so fascinating. John was nominated for the Academy of Western Artists 2012 male performer of the year. When given an advance copy of "Butterfield Stage," Bobbi Jean Bell of KHTS am 1220 radio in Santa Clarita, CA wrote: "...We play Butterfield Stage frequently and enjoy it each time. It is an album of stories of California and the West. Original songs make up the majority of the album (10 of the 13) and they are love songs to California, the Horse, the Silver Screen, and to our Western History. James Dolan, Snowshoe Thompson, Black Bart, Roy Rogers, and Salomon Pico all make fine musical subjects - and we get a history lesson too.

Bergstrom chooses 2 songs by others - Dave Stamey's "The Bandit Joaquin" and Michael Fleming's "On California Ground." Both powerful pieces that are aptly chosen to accompany his original songs. One cannot help but notice the great production quality with performances by top musicians... Tom Corbett, John Nelson, David Jackson, Eric Bergstrom, Gency Brown.
This is not just Western music - its great music."

Les Buffham, award winning poet and lyricist in his own right commented," I really like the bunkhouse feel of the CD."
As with his past CDs, others have commented that, "you can almost smell the campfire" as you listen to the music.
