Album Notes
A beautiful album with John on vocals and Glenn Patscha on piano. The two work like a well-oiled machine, they make the classic "Scotch and Soda" their own. It is reminescent of the lounge days of Jazz, when the Blue Room at the Fairmont Hotel was open and you could see Billie Holiday performing live.
"Sweet Lorraine" by vocalist John Boutte' and pianist Glenn Patscha... John Boutte's brief (less than two-and-a-half minutes) rendition of "Sweet Lorraine" simmers with the heat of an endless, infernal New Orleans afternoon in August. Whereas many singers attempt to kill listeners with their vocal cannons, Boutte' is happy to slightly pierce their guts with his Swiss Army knife, evoking pleas for the fatal thrust." - Bunny Matthews
