ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Texte français ci-dessous.
John FEATHERSTONE’s setting of this powerful ancient hymn is scored for three vocal ensembles: a classical Latin choir, an English jazz-gospel choir and a quartet of French soloists. With its seamless musical diversity, this composition reconciles a respect for our musical and spiritual roots with a desire to build creatively on that heritage. The work lasts about an hour, and is in 12 movements.

On the recording, the classical choir is the award-winning Bath Camerata, directed by Benjamin Goodson. The English and French jazz-gospel vocalists include members of Swingle, regulars at Ronnie Scott’s, and vocalists who tour in the contemporary music scene, performing in film and in Broadway musicals.
They are joined by Dave Leonard Cooke (piano), Pedro Segundo (percussion), Tom Walley (double-bass) and Pete Long (sax).
