ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
John Harrrelson has been a working musician and songwriter for 48 years. His catalog consists of over 4,500 original tunes. He plays 20 different instruments, holds a doctorate from Claremont Graduate University in ethno-musicology, and has taught the history of rock 'n' roll, blues and jazz at various colleges in Southern California. This album is music used in the documentary film about his life, Dead Man Rockin' John Harrelson's Life in Music, produced by two former bandmates from groups he fronted in the 1960s. The film and album covers five decades of John's music. The film chronicles his life in music and his struggles to succeed and stay true to his music. The title of the film and album refers to his battles with severe medical issues over the years that resulted in him dying and being brought back to life in 2006. His battles with coronary disease, circulatory issues and severe diabetes recently resulted in kidney failure and the loss of his left foot to amputation. He struggles on and is fighting to get back some sense of normalcy in spite of this latest setback.
