Album Notes
Originally this tune appeared on a cassette only release way back when cassette only releases were the going thing. It was on a release called The Millet Stalk by John’s rock band A Grey Sky. While that band turned to dust upon the release of that legendary cassette the music did not. Recently John has set about doing new versions of songs from that storied release. “You Will Smile Again” is just the latest. (Previously released singles “I Can’t Find My Way Back Home” and “Don’t Resist” also were originally from The Millet Stalk.) Here are the lyrics

you’re tear stained pleas arrest me
can you keep your body warm
the words you speak well they vex me
as you see the coming storm

go cry now
go hang your head
but do not forget
you will smile again

the answer is simple mistakes have been made
can you rectify them soon
is that your desire or is it too late
are you howling at the moon

you will smile again
this you can be sure
the road is rough
the street is narrow
but your conscience is pure
and now you only have to wait until its through
it won’t be easy
you won’t go unscathed
but try to believe.....

your heart is swollen like a welt on the flesh
seems like it just may burst
words crucify and put you to death
if only that were the worst.
