ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This entire album was recorded onto analog 2' tape in New York City. Johnny Mez wrote, arranged, and produced this record himself. Many vintage microphones including an RCA stereo mike were used to capture the rich analog sound of this record in an homage to the classic recordings of the great American Jazz Age. This album includes performances by top NY horn players Clark Gayton, Jessie Dulman, Lawrence Clark, and Jason Candler. The udu is a Nigerian gourd drum. It is played by drummer and percussionist Bruce Mack. The female vocalist on this record is Anna Whitely who is also a gifted songwriter.
