ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
From the liner notes:

During the last 26 years the colorful blues scene in Kansas City has matured. When I moved back to KC in 1971, it was hard to find a blues band of any stripe. Today 25 or 30 bands are vying for the title of "blues band." Some are, some ain't.
John Paul And The Hellhounds are legit. Oh, when John Paul first stood in a jam session 10 years ago he had the moves and the look, but... his harmonica playing was just an ember. Today, John Paul's harmonica is smokin' and with the Hellhounds feeding the fire this is one hot rockin' unit.
Two years of playing every Thursday at B.B.'s Lawnside Bar-B-Q, winning the Kansas City Blues Society's Blues Band Competition for two years in succession, and traveling throughout the Midwest have brought audiences to their feet and created a loyal following.
It's time to put the CD on, listen to the pulsating throb of the Hellhounds: Curt on bass, Billy on drums, Danny's guitar – a Virginia country boy who's been branded by the blues.
A consciousness of tradition hangs over the songs of Billy Boy Arnold, James Cotton, both Sonny Boys, Chuck Berry, and George "Harmonica" Smith as well as their own, the way smoke hangs over a Bar-B-Q pit. When this "blues plate special" is served up, it's not the same daily routine. This CD will rock the house, so turn it up, let the neighbors have some!

Host of the Kansas City Blues Snow on KCFX, 101FM
