Album Notes
John Rose was writing songs about love, loss, family and the politics of war before he even graduated from high school. He wrote about world travel before leaving the Garden State. His voice is dynamic, it’s raspy, soulful, and precise -- and it has presence.

The power in every verse is evident as you listen to his debut CD, “Home Fries.” All songs performed on “Home Fries” were written by John, and a majority of the music was also played by John, too -- from the acoustic guitar to the harmonica. (Years ago, his friends nick-named him 'Jack,' and he's certainly proven himself a Jack-Of-All-Trades). The intensely personal CD is a collection of John's early home demos. The album was completely written, performed, produced and manufactured using the equipment and resources John mastered over the years. The sound is surprisingly raw and refreshing.

A true song-writer, John’s lyrics grab your heart by every fiber. His music is all original, and his inspiration is drawn from a variety of musical talents: Cash, Springsteen, Waits, and Dylan, (just to name a few 'greats'). In their purest form, John's songs are all about using your imagination to take you places. His lyrics tap into your soul and transcend emotion. Since John was born in New Jersey and still lives at the Shore, it’s no surprise he draws artistic inspiration from the Garden State’s natural beauty and musical offspring.

Columnist ‘Uncle Mike’ from The Two River Times (Monmouth Co., NJ) said of John's "I'll Take What I Can Get" song, “It's "soulfully mournful and haunting/reminiscent of Bruce's 'Tom Joad.'" Of (to-be-released) "Bobby Don't Change," "another fine vocal." Rose's songs are described as "gems."

His musical vision started as a pipedream and now it’s a reality. For years, John played at local coffee-houses and even a fair or two. In 2006, John took his music and his song-writing to the next level as Shore Points Music's Featured Artist.

John was born in New Jersey, still lives at the Shore, and draws artistic inspiration from the Garden State’s natural beauty and musical offspring. The primary musical inspiration while crafting his personal style was Bruce Springsteen. Other strong influences are Warren Zevon, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, and Tom Waits (just to name a few 'greats').

"Home Fries" is a collection of John Rose's early home demo recordings. Some of the songs date back over a decade, but, like a fine vintage, they get better with time. Since all of the writing, recording, producing and manufacturing was done in John's home studio... well... I guess you could say it was kinda like cookin' up some home fries on a Sunday morning!
