Album Notes
Upstate NY saxophonist and composer John Savage presents his first studio album since 2003's,"Through It All". "Life Stories" is just that: a collection of nine original songs painting a picture of segments of the life lived since his last album. Recorded over the span of almost ten years, "Life Stories", has been a true labour of love. Featuring Savage on tenor and alto sax and Akai EWI, he also presents a vocal performance on the cut, "You and "Me", which gives a glimpse into the other side of his musical abilities that have only until recently been seen in live performances. Guitarist Joe Sanges returns with some blazing solos and his penchant for melodic improvisation is ever present as he guests on four of the nine cuts. Up and coming sax player Tim Veeder joins his former teacher in a homage to their mutual hero Dexter Gordon on the song, "Dexter's Backyard". Tim can be heard on trumpet player Cindy Bradley's latest album, "Unscripted", getting rave reviews for his soloing prowess on that album. Percussionist Paul Borrello is Not only featured playing drums on much of the album but gives a superb performance on vibes on the track, "Prayer for Peace". "Life Stories", has many stories to tell. It's well worth the read (listen).
