Album Notes
Trudell (Santee Sioux) was a spokesperson for the Indians of All Tribes occupation of Alcatraz Island from 1969 to 1971 and served as Chairman of the American Indian Movement (AIM) from 1973 to 1979

In 1982, Trudell began recording his spoken word poetry with music. His first album, called Tribal Voice, combined poetry with traditional Native music and his second album, AKA Graffiti Man, recorded with Jesse Ed Davis, was called the best album of the year in 1986 by Bob Dylan.

John Trudell has released a total of fourteen albums.
