After winning Pinoy Pop Superstar Season 1 hosted by Regine Velasquez in 2005, Jonalyn released her first solo album, On My Own under GMA Records on that same year. The album includes 10 power ballads, a number of which became the theme song of some of the popular telenovelas in GMA.

In 2006, Jonalyn took part as one of the Philippine delegation that represented the country at the 10th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Los Angeles, USA. She bagged five golds and three plaques from different categories including pop, broadway, original, r&b and jazz. This achievement earned her a recognition as one of the Notable Global Pinoys in Music by the SM Group of Companies alongside Apl de Ap, Christian Bautista and Martin Nievera to name a few.

Jonalyn noticeably a great live performer and a crowd favorite brought her more exposures both here and abroad. She was able to perform in US, Turkey, Japan, Hawaii, Canada, Dubai, Brunei, Jakarta and Abu Dhabi earlier in her career.

In 2008, Jonalyn became part of the trio, La Diva, alongside Aicelle Santos and Maricris Garcia, both products of Pinoy Pop Superstar and mainstays of SOP as well. They became one of the established performers of the said show. Though still signed as solo artists and maintaining their own respective solo careers, the trio was signed by Sony Music Philippines in partnership with GMA Records in 2009 to release a self-titled album spearheaded by their mentors, Maestro Danny Tan and Direk Louie Ignacio.

In 2011, Jonalyn started the year in gradually establishing herself as a solo artist once again, with a solo concert entitled, Uncovered presented by Creative Media Entertainment. Her performance in Uncovered bagged her an ALIW Award later that year. After this, Jonalyn went on doing a couple more of solo shows and concerts both here and abroad: Uncovered 2 (RnB Music Bar Pampanga, Aug 2011); Beyond Limits (Music Museum, Sep 2011); One Love (Metro Bar, Feb 2012); Jonalyn Viray: Live in Abu Dhabi (India Social Club, Abu Dhabi, Oct 2012); Music & Me (Teatrino, Dec 2012); Power Belters (Dubai, Mar 2013); Music & Me Provincial Tour (SM Dasmariñas, Cavite, Apr 2013)

Her new self-titled album has five cuts; all Original Pilipino Music (OPM). Her first single off this album, Nakita Kang Muli is written by Arnie Mendaros. It is a heavy ballad and is currently being played on radio stations. Her other tracks include: Sa Piling Mo written by Bob Mitra (Mellow/Pop); You Keep Me Breathless written by Arnie Mendaros (Neo-Soul/Gospel) ; Help Me Get Over written by Tata Betita (RnB/Pop); and Hello written by Arnie Mendaros (Pop). This album definitely showcases Jonalyn's versatility as a singer and very personal too as she was totally hands on during the whole production. Easy to say, it's close to her heart.
