Album Notes
Jonathan Alvear was born in December, 1956, in St. Petersburg, Florida, then spent the early years of his life in Brazil, South America, where his parents were missionaries. At the age of 12, he came to the USA to go to school and lived with Rev. Howard Davis in San Bernardino, California. After three years his whole family relocated for several years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he finished his education. He entered the ministry and began traveling as a full-time evangelist in 1977. Two years later, he married his childhood sweetheart, Kandi Barnaby, in South Bend, Indiana. They continued traveling together until he became Pastor of First Pentecostal Church, in Sulphur, Louisiana, in 1988. In March, 2011, he assumed the pastorate of Conyers Apostolic Church, in Conyers, Georgia, where he remains until the present. He has traveled extensively, speaking in many churches and at numerous conferences and special meetings around the USA. He has also made dozens of trips overseas to visit and be of assistance to the mission fields. His ministry has not only included the spoken Word, but he has also blessed many with his heart-felt singing. His first album comes as the result of many requests for his recorded music and is a collection of the songs that have most inspired his life journey. "Wayfaring Stranger" is thus a musical account of that journey.
