Album Notes
Originally from Austin, Texas, this Portland based songwriter is currently touring full time to promote his recently completed self titled record. The record was produced at Haywire Recordings in Portland and engineered by Robert Bartleson (Wilco, Desert City Soundtrack) The record is versatile with tracks that whisper nuances of folk rock and jazz at times. The instrumentation is vast while remaining tasteful and the lyrics abstract but personable.

Fantastic CD, Great Blend of instruments and vocala
The CD is fantastic. From the first song to the last, this CD keeps you interested in the lyrics as well as the instruments being played.

review on this album
"I am impressed with the maturity that Garcia displays on this debut. If the songs I mentioned are any indicator of his future, he’s headed in the right direction."

"His trick-bag of ideas is stuffed to bursting. On his self-titled debut, he won't stick to an approach long enough to give listeners a fix on the territory he's working, and the overall effect is like he stacked up all his conceptual building blocks into a pile, knocked them down and worked with the patterns he found on the floor."

"The disc is a piece of work, and for individuals that like actually thinking about the music they are putting on their player, Garcia's self-titled disc may just be what is needed."

"Boasting a spectrum of different sounds, from harp, violin, and cello, the one thing that overwhelms all things is Garcia's voice which has a bit of a spectral quality about it."

"man and artwork totally likeable and charming. Just listen"

Instead of going for one sound, Jon delves into a wild variety of sources and influences...coming up with his own sound in the process. Some of the arrangements on this album are just lovely. The use of violin, harp, and cello works beautifully with the style of music Garcia composes. This well thought out album features a wealth of smart tracks...with our favorites being "Sweet Misery," "Saturday Morning," "Dizzy Star," and "One Night Stand With Myself."

"Brilliant in its arrangement, powerful in its delivery, and contemplative in its lyrics"

One doesn't need to be a strict fan of this type of music to be able to relate to it and love it, just a few listens will get you hooked and keep you in a soft chair filled with fluffy furs of euphoria that let you fall asleep and dream your sweet nocturnal sleep forever.

It sounds like a gentle lullaby, one that Ryan Adams might listen to before bed. Some people might pass this kind of music off as easy listening for the folk rock crowd, but that just means you don’t get it.

Versatile melodies and reaching your soul lyrics make this cd a complete anytime
With lyrics that make you laugh, cry, and pulse - this cd lifts you to a new level. Great for anytime listening, especially on rainy day sundays or on your way home from a night on the town. With music you can feel in your toes, Jon Garcia is a must have addition to any collection.
