ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Jedi of Cool" pianist, composer and author Jon O'Bergh follows up his critically acclaimed jazz/funk fusion album "Skin Deep" with an album of ten Christmas classics, reinvented as you’ve never heard them before. The collection includes cherished carols such as "The Twelve Days of Christmas," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "Joy to the World," and "The First Noel." Jon's memorable take on one modern classic, retitled "Jack Frost Is Coming to Town," introduces a new contemporary jazz sound with a festive musical interlude.

Jon's signature sound that his fans have come to love resound throughout each track, while introducing new arrangements accompanied by Holmes Run Orchestra and The Nu Jazz Horns, along with bass player Andre Ajamu Akinyele, who also produced the album. This marks Jon's first holiday album, adding to his diverse music repertoire of nine solo albums and five albums recorded with Gemini Soul. With influences of Vince Guaraldi, Dave Brubeck, and Tori Amos, among others, "10 Shades of Christmas" intertwines a style unto its own, producing an enchanted holiday masterpiece that just might become one of your favorite holiday albums.
