ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jordan Jaarola is a singer and songwriter hailing from Melbourne, Australia - his unique sound rooted within pop & alternative R&B.

Jordan Jaarola was raised in the remote, coastal town of Esperance, Western Australia. Trained in classical piano from a young age, and with a childhood of memories spent in his parents’ rehearsals and backstage at shows, Jaarola grew up surrounded by music. His interest continued to develop into his teenage years, when Jaarola began writing songs, drawing from inspirations such as Stevie Wonder, and the pop and R&B vibes of the 90s and 00s.

Ever the individual, Jaarola independently made the move to Melbourne, where he studied voice and contemporary music. Performing extensively within the city’s vibrant live scene over the past few years, he has continued to hone his craft.

Most recently, Jaarola has been focussing on his original solo music. Recording since late 2016, and continuously composing new material, Jaarola has been piecing together his introduction to the wider music industry in the form of an EP.

Sonically, Jaarola blends a moody, atmospheric pop ambience into the sleek production of alternative R&B. His output is defined by his soulful vocals, lush harmonic layers and soaring falsetto, alongside a flair for dynamic melodies and infectious hooks - a sound that has drawn comparisons to The Weeknd, Daley and Sam Smith.

Teaming up with Susie Ahern on production, Jaarola’s debut single, ‘Maybe It’s You’ - a piano and synth driven cut - utilises the aforementioned elements as a backdrop to a story about the uncertainty one can encounter in newfound love.

On the song, Jaarola states:

“I wrote ‘Maybe It’s You’ about the feeling of uncertainty you experience when you meet somebody new, and you’re not sure if the attraction is a fleeting moment that will phase out, or if it’s something more real. It deals with the difficulty of achieving a true personal connection with someone, especially in this era where everything seems to be so temporary and impersonal. I love how this message comes through on the track. On their own, the lyrics sound like a hopeful love song, but then when combined with the minor key and the melodies, and the production, it takes on this darker hue. There’s a lightness and a darkness.”

Currently, Jordan Jaarola is adding the final touches to his debut self-titled EP; set for release in late 2017.
