ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Amen/This Little Light of Mine is a Pop Gospel Classic. Amen was written for the film “Lilies of the Field” by Jester Hairston and This Little Light is a children’s gospel song written by Harry Dixon Loes. The two songs were put together by Sam Cooke and recorded live at the Copa Cabana in 1964. Inspired by the film and the record Pop/Gospel singer Joseph Lorenzo Wise performed the song for a 2013 MLK celebration with pianist/arranger Cody Gillette. The audience adored it and then magic happened on a Friday night in a Venice Beach recording studio. It was as if Sidney Poitier, Sam Cooke, Jester Hairston, Curtis Mayfield and maybe even a couple of nuns sent us some special spiritual energy for the session. All vocals by Joseph Lorenzo Wise. Instrumentals by Cody Gillette. Arranged and Engineered by Cody Gillette. Recorded and mixed at OZmosis Records, Venice, CA. Produced by JLW Music, Joseph Lorenzo Wise and Cody Gillette.
