ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I MISS MY BROADWAY SHOW, the new hit single by Joseph Lorenzo Wise and Cody Gillette is a nostalgic journey back to the Great White White Way. The track features tap dancing by Joseph Lorenzo Wise who danced across the stage of the St. James Theater in New York on 44th Street in the splashy Broadway Musical "On the 20th Century". Wise was one of the original Four Porters in the Coleman, Comden and Green Musical directed by Harold Prince and starring the legendary Madeline Kahn.

That was 1978 and Wise who now lives in Los Angeles, CA, has released several singles including "Life Is Like A Train", a re-imagining of the Entre-act from "20th Century" as a pop dance toe tapper. His new album "SONGBOOK" features ten live performances and a new take on the Beethoven Fifth "Papaparazzi". Wise has always honored his days on Broadway and has never forgotten the thrill of performing on Broadway.

The lyrics just kept popping into my head, for many years. I MISS MY BROADWAY has been incubating for a long time, and after a recording session at OZmosis Records in LA, Joseph and Cody just started jamming on the tune. Before long there was a scratch track to which we added some tap beats. "Wasn't gonna work" Wise says, I knew it was time for me to get out the tap shoes and lay it down for real, if the feet still had it!

After the final arrangement by Cody Gillete and the raucous recording session on the vocal, we now needed a place to record and film some live tap dancing. Amazingly we got offered a beautiful stage in Culver City to work on. "Once the music started, the feet came alive, I hadn't tapped in years, Wise says. We had such a blast that day and the feet, they still had it!

The song also evokes the era of the old Hollywood Musicals where song and dance and tap shoes often came together in an Astaire/Kelly style. There's even a little Durante in some of those licks on the track. It's a feel good, happy time, with a nostalgic gaze back to a very special and historic time. Things have changes so much since 1978, but Wise says, "I can still see the lights and those magic nights...... On BROADWAY!
