Album Notes
When I write songs, I try my hardest to not repeat the sound or the style of each song. My goal is to achieve what the Beatles did absolutely, with each song being a separate, original capsule --in a way, almost unrelated to the next. Who ever said "Hey that's Paperback Writer" playing? --oh no , sorry it’s "I am the Walrus"? ---No one I can think of…So, I try to do that.

The drummer Rick Colaluca is a great musician who has played all over the world with his band "Watchtower". I feel his playing is an integral part of the Josh Koons sound, he and I having played together for 10 years now.

Much to my happiness, the owner/producer/engineer of Bell Tree Studio who co-produced the album, happened to be a great harmony singer, arranger, guitar player, and bassist—so I utilized him at every turn. Not a fan of boring parallel harmony, Gary filled space with contrary motion and suspension.

I started teaching Matias Pasch guitar when he was 12, he ending up joining the group and playing excellent guitar on the album—lots of raw chord strumming —acoustic picking on the Pedro verses, massive crunch on the end of Cave and others.

The Bassist-Andrew Twenter , was a friend I played with as a drummer in a previous band. Aside from some interesting bass lines-
He also helped me with the electronic arpeggiators on “get me down from here” and “7 sails”

There was a banjo in the corner of the room so I figured I should learn a little and play on “Coyote” (of course).
Then I stuck it on the intro to “For Donald Campbell”

I Hope you enjoy the music!
