ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
On a hot Sunday afternoon, joshua black wilkins went in to record the most intimate of records. in 12 hours, on two reels of tape, with only 1 guitar, a 6 string banjo, and the help of Amanda Shires on fiddle, The Girlfriend Sessions was complete.
Produced by Cali DeVaney and recorded in East Nashville at The Reel East Nashville Studios, The Girlfriend Sessions is 13 songs stripped down to the basics of what makes joshua black wilkins an artist. Songs of war, poverty, addiction, heartbreak, and loneliness are scattered through the collection just as they would on stage and in the parlors of house concerts.
Although this record is not a true "follow-up" to While You Wait, it is an excellent addition to the broad spectrum of recordings joshua black wilkins has made over his career.
