Album Notes
Joshua Eadie, folk musician from Montpelier, Virginia and frontman for Richmond band The Common Wealth, brings you this live session from StarkGrey Studios in Ruther Glen. Featuring two original songs and a traditional mountain tune, Joshua connects his roots in Appalachian music with contemporary folk sensibilities. The first song on the record, Road to the Anna, harkens to classic parting songs going back centuries, and invites listeners to find beauty in the life they've lived. Bowline is a classic tale of a lonely and hopeless soul finding love, and was the first of many songs Joshua wrote for his banjo picker, who would later become his wife. The third song of the session is an old mountain song from an unknown author, made popular during the Civil War, and a promise made by a distant lover. Together, this record tells timeless stories of love and history, and beckons the listener to engage with days gone by.
