Album Notes
“Chaverai Nevarech. Friends, Let Us Bless."
These words may be familiar to you from Birkat Hamazon, our grace after meals. They took on a new meaning for me a few months ago. On May 6th and 7th, I brought together some dear friends from across the country to record the music of my heart. I knew there was only one way for this music to be created, and that was to have it sung with love by a group of friends in a beautiful space — bringing their voices together and creating more than just the melodies themselves, but a living and breathing song-filled experience. And so this name came out of that experience. This music is meant to bring people together, to share, to sing, to bless. Chaverai Nevarech.

In May 2018, I gathered 10 amazing musicians from across the country to record “Chaverai Nevarech”. The idea for the live album came when I realized that what was special about this new music was the energy and experience created when it was sung by a group of people. I felt that the energy and feeling that is formed when people come together to sing, could not be captured on a studio recording, where everyone is isolated in their own booths or recording at different times. And so, with generous help and support from family and friends, this project came to be.

I brought in Jeremy Lawrence to produce, engineer, and mix this dream project. In May, I brought together Coleen Dieker (violin and vocals), Brock Pollock (Upright bass/music producer), Duvid Swirsky (Lead guitar and vocals), Lior Shragg (Percussion), Ayo Awosika (Vocals/vocal producer), Chava Mirel (Vocals), Deborah Sacks Mintz (Vocals), Jackson Vance Mercer (Vocals), and Yael Bettenhausen (Vocals) for 36 hours of recording at the Pico Union Project in Los Angeles. Dustin Warren of Matterworks captured everything on film, and thus, “Chaverai Nevarech” was born.
