Album Notes
It’s more than a ‘drift’ in that direction. These folks have arrived!
On their new CD Journey West (Audrey McLaughlin, Dawn Pett, Gale Rogers and Ken Bucy) brings us their tight harmonies and cowgirl sensibilities (with that one honorary cowgirl in there too)! There’s even an adventurous venture or two into yodeling. The song selections are rooted in the romantic soul of the past and present West. Fine versions of “Along the Santa Fe Trail,” “ Cowboy Moon,” “Texas Blues” and other classics are among the thirteen songs. And, as predicted, some new songs from Joyce Woodson are being picked up by artists. The two here (“If I Hadn’t Seen the West” and “Cheyenne”) are given the full, royal treatment. Other contemporary western offerings include Nancy Thorwardson’s “My Prairie Home,” “Headin’ for the Ranch” from Joe Baer and Mike Cirillo (vocal by Ken Bucy) and the Les Buffham/Mike Ley song “Woman of the Wind.”
At the WMA Festival and other events where Journey West performs or jams, people stop in their tracks to listen. This album should give you at least some idea why.

our CD arrived today and I’ve been playing it in the car while running errands. It’s the best CD I’ve heard in a long, long time! CONGRATULATIONS!! I’ve already programmed 6 of the songs on it for my show (not all at one time, of course). That’s something I never do because there are rarely more than two songs on a typical CD that I feel are right for my show. In the case of yours, however, I’ll be playing both standards (2) and new compositions (4).
Thanks so much for sending it along.

ust wanted to drop you a note and let you know how much I enjoyed your CD, "Driftin' West" that you sent me for "Calling All Cowboys Radio." Your vocal harmonies and song arrangements are first rate. Id' stack up your CD against anybody's in the business.

Thanks again for making your work available to the listening audience of "Calling All Cowboys Radio!"

Thanks so much for sending your CD "Drifitin' West. I just finished listening to every track and it's beautiful; I love the song selection and your harmony is pure as a prairie breeze. You can be sure I'll be using several tracks on The Spirit of the West in the coming months.
