Album Notes
Artist Name is Jimmy Phillips (Ryan)

The “Rebel Soldier” is a collection of 12 Southern Civil War songs and tunes and, as a
bonus, includes a demonstration of the Southern “Rebel Yell” by a veteran Civil War
reenactor. Jimmy Phillips has been reenacting the Civil War since 1992, was an extra
in the movie “Gettysburg,” and is currently Captain of a Confederate light artillery unit,
the 2nd Kentucky, Morgan’s Artillery. The music of the Civil War reflects a time of
great emotional turmoil in this country and is a lasting tribute to the soldiers, both North
and South, who fought bravely and made great sacrifices for the causes they held so

A great tribute to the South and to freedom
The Rebel Soldier captures the glory and pain of the War of Southern Independence (or War of Northern Aggression). It is a great tribute to the South, the music tradition of the Scots/Irish and to freedom.

Very Good Recording
Notes were clear & pure. Definitely was recorded in a quality studio. One of the better recordings of I'm A Good Old Rebel.

A True Southern Patriot!
I am a huge fan of Mr. Phillip's exceptional artistic musical abilites keeping our once proud Southern Heritage alive and thriving! Mr. Phillip's songs are truly unique and a pleasure to listen to. Among the songs that I love listening to are Mr. Phillip's rendition of "Rebel Soldier"....it rivals earlier work done by Waylon Jennings who also did a rendition of this song, let me tell you....this gentleman is that good! There is a rich character and other qualities that draw the listener in; believe me you too will be captivated by his music. I am a true believer that Mr. Phillip's work does not get the credit it is due. If you or your family hold Southern roots like me, I was raised in South Carolina, or if you are a lover or a teacher of History, Mr. Phillips music provides a fair and balanced perspective and with each song. It is like you are experiencing history-literally the ups and downs of the war and each bit of emotion is conveyed through Mr. Phillip's music and his great voice. Check this album out, you will not be disappointed that you did! I have these songs downloaded onto my iPod and listen to many at work. Just watch that you don't give a "Rebel Yell" when your boss comes round the corner! Thank You Mr. Phillips for your contributions and for keeping our Southern heritage alive and thriving! God Bless!

Outstanding Historical Music
I've been looking for Ima a good ole rebel for some time. I remember my Grandmother telling me stories that were told to her my her Mother and Grandmother about how many Confederate Soldier we unrepentant about fighting for the South and did not desire to be pardoned. This music captured the defiant attitute that was prevalent immediately after the war. I found the music to be entertaining.

The Rebel Soldier
Excellent recreation of the turmoil reflected in the music of the South in that dreadful time
