Album Notes
Sunshine and Shadows features gentle solo finger-style mountain dulcimer tunes that are intended to be relaxing and soothing. The album is a bit of a departure from the usual musical content of dulcimer albums, in that it includes well-known, beloved popular standards and show tunes in addition to traditional Celtic and original songs.

I enjoy playing soft dulcimer music for hospice patients, who are the inspiration for many of the arrangements. I have chosen music for this album that is comforting, calming, and uplifting, rendered with gentle, singing phrasing. If you are looking for music to help you “chill out” and relax, this album is for you.

Sandy Shalk

dulcet dulcimer
Judith goes straight for the heart with Sunshine and Shadows. Her music is inviting, gentle, and flowing. For me, this cd is all about the artist connecting with the listener via expressive melody and gentle harmony. I'm amazed at what she does with the few strings of the dulcimer. You can fall love with the instrument through the music on the cd. I also like the fact that there are no musical boundaries on this cd. That's my cup of tea. Judith goes from O'Carolan to modern standards in a seamless flow. When I'm out for a walk and Sunshine and Shadows comes on my Ipod, I'm as a happy as can be. This is beautiful music.
