Album Notes
The Magic Carpet: Songs and Stories from Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt, has been performed at hundreds of schools, libraries, museums and festivals throughout the United States. Judith tells captivating legends while Dan plays period authentic instruments, including the Egyptian Oud, Middle Eastern Doumbek, Kinnor Harp, Ocarina, and more. This show was originally commissioned for the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago and their exhibit, The Royal Tombs of Ur. Judith's wonderful vocal presence intrigues and engages listeners, transporting the audience to ancient times and cultures. Dan's musical interpretation of the period is of the highest order, combining researched ethnomusicological studies and original composition. The collection of stories and music, including tales of En Merkar, Ishtar, Sekhmet, Osirius, and a hilarious Mummy Song, will delight and entertain all audiences.
