ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Juez is self described as breakbeat klezmer jazz; they draw on klezmer modes in a unique exploration of jazz and progressive rock rhythms with influences ranging from Yemenite to hip hop. While their compositions are experimental, their sound isn't inaccessibly dissonant. It is this formulaic blending of styles that gives this group such a wide appeal.

Juez has performed with such artists as Satlah, Educated Consumers, Lemon Juice Quartet, MC Son of Nun, 302 Acid and Gutbucket at the Hillel International, Art-O-Matic, Modular Mood Klezmer party, the Jewish Folk Arts Festival, University of Maryland, Harvard and The Knitting Factory just to name a few.

Great CD innovative and classic at the same time
This is a great CD that features a truly new sound in the Jewish music world. Although the soundscape certainly pushes the envelope, at the same time it still (miraculously) manages to sound familiar to those with knowledge of traditional Jewish niggunim (melodies). This CD is adventurous sounding, and yet it will still remind you of the old country. Delicious creativity at work.
